As a teacher at Global Village
Vancouver for almost eleven years, I have seen a lot of changes;
the growth of the Vancouver school so that it now covers two
campuses with a teaching staff of around 60 in high season and
the expansion of GV to include schools across Canada and in
Hawaii and Australia. No matter what the changes, the GV spirit
continues with the goal of creating for each student at Global
Village not only a unique learning environment for improving
their English , but also a warm and welcoming place where life-long
friendships are begun and unforgettable experiences are shared
with a student population from around the world.
Beginning with its spectacular setting between mountains and
ocean, Vancouver is one of the world’s most beautiful and vibrant
cities. Famous for its international flavour, reflected in its
many ethnic festivals and an amazing variety of restaurants,
Vancouver’s diverse population provides an atmosphere of tolerance
and opens the world to students who are often on their first
trip outside of their own countries. Big enough to be exciting
and to provide a wide range of activities, Vancouver is also
friendly, safe and welcoming to international students.
As an English teacher since 1990, I can say that I have never
worked with a more supportive, friendly and knowledgeable group
as the teaching staff at GV Vancouver. High qualification standards
and continuous professional development, encouraged by the school
administration, makes our teaching staff head and shoulders
above most other ESL schools and has given us an enviable reputation.
Above all, GV teachers are caring and enthusiastic teachers
who want their students to have an out-standing classroom experience
and to leave the school at the end of their studies feeling
they have really improved their English language skills.
It’s a tribute to GV Vancouver and the teaching staff that
many former students return for further classes, recommend the
school to their family, friends and colleagues and continue
to keep in touch with their former teachers. Many students have
told me personally that their experience at GV Vancouver has
been “life-changing” and something they will never forget. I
am proud to be part of this and find each day teaching at GV
Vancouver interesting, often challenging and always making me
feel that I am really doing something worthwhile!
